FREEWARE APPLICATIONS
Most of these Freeware applications require the use of WinZip for unzipping and installation. If you do not have a copy of WinZip, you can download a FREE copy of it at www.Winzip.com. If you could not, for any reason, download any of these freeware, please email me and I will liaise with you personally for your copy. Although these freeware are designed and developed by me with time and effort, I have allowed them to be used and distributed freely. All I ask is that if you find them useful and good, please refer this site to as many people as possible and come visit often to see Whatz New.

| CD Management Database |
| This program was actually designed for personal use. It was meant for me to keep track of the titles, contents and whereabouts of the 500-odd CDs I have. I decided to post this small application on my website for anyone out there looking for something like this. This application allows the user to add, edit, delete CD entries into or from the database. Besides allowing the user to manage their CDs, it also allows the user to manage the contents of their CDs. I have also added other useful utilities such as the FindCD and the FilterCD Display functions that I think might come in handy to anyone who has many many CDs to manage. Because this is a Freeware, please bear with the fact that there is no attached Help File. If you have any problems with the usage of this application or any other queries, please do not hesitate to email me. Meanwhile, when I have the time, I will work on an upgraded version of this application which will include a FindSong utility which, I think, will prove to be very useful. Once that is all done with, Phase 2 of this project will be about letting the whole wide world view your CD database collection over the web by writing a Browser-based application that will read from your ready-prepared CD database which you will post on my website. For example: You might be able to show-off your entire CD Management Database to the whole wide world through this link on my website www.softwaremaker.net/CDMD/YourName/CDMD.asp. | Image Database |
A small application for Storing and Retrieiving Images or Image Files from a Database. These Images can be stored as a File Pointer or a Binary Data / Large Objects (BLOB). Both options have their Pros and Cons. If it is saved as a BLOB, the database can get inflated rather quickly (...which should not be a problem for users with BIG hard-disks or with a removable storage medium). If it is saved as a file pointer, the database will be very small. However, images and pictures will NOT be centralized in one database location as the image files will be in locations all over the user's machine. If the location or the folder in which these pictures are stored are moved or renamed, you will get numerous broken links. Therefore, I would recommend that users store the pictures or images in a folder where it is not moved or renamed at all. With the file pointer option, users can also choose to view the image picture in the default application in which they are launched in. If not, these image pictures are still available for viewing via a small window in this application. Enjoy ! |
